Post Operation- After Hair Transplant Surgery

View detailed hair transplantation Post-Operative Instructions.

We offer comprehensive post care service, providing around-the-clock availability to each patient after all procedures. Full instructions are available online at the link above and are provided at the office. All medications and post-operative care are provided to the patients after the procedure. Patients return within approximately 10 days to have their sutures removed and to ensure the proper healing of both the donor and recipient sites.

A major concern for patients is what they will look like after the procedure. Hair transplant surgery has come a long way. Plug-like transplants and long down times are things of the past. With follicular units, incisions are small and precise, resulting in a more natural appearance that is virtually undetectable and faster healing times.

The immediate effects of hair transplantation that can call attention to the scalp are scabs and skin discoloration. Today, the precision with which the grafts are cut allows for minimal healing time: approximately 3-7 days for visible reduction of scabs and discoloration (10-14 for complete healing). The accuracy of the graft results in smaller incisions in the recipient site, which in turn produces smaller scabs, less trauma and a lesser degree of discoloration.

Though detailed instructions are provided to minimize swelling, some patients do experience swelling of the forehead. Taking it easy and utilizing ice packs for the first twenty-four hours after surgery will greatly reduce negative after effects. Swelling can occur up to four days after the procedure and is not uncommon. Residual swelling should dissipate fully by the seventh day.
